 Hello,

This year I turn 50 and I thought it would be hard, but it's not. I am actually giddy... happy. In fact I've been celebrating all year! I wanted to share my celebrating and happiness with everyone. I'm telling you first. My birthday project is that I will give away 50 free mini paintings from October 1-14, 2022 (14th my birthday!). They will be hidden all over. I hope you will find one.  

It's Libra season and I am just filled with juicy energy. Be sure to purchase your favorite Libra a gift from my Society6 shop.

Also Inktober will be starting October 1, 2022 and I have begun my sketching. Here is a peek at one of my sketches.

Next, I am on my 5th painting for my GoBig collection.  This 5th one will be my 2nd painting that is stretched. I thought this project would take long, but I am zipping through the canvases. The only three hold ups are the extra fees such as buying stretcher bars and getting a ride to the art supply store. Plus storage; I am running out of room at my tiny apartment and I am not so sure how to store the flat paintings. I have them rolled now, but I think I need something better. I'll be working that out soon. It would also help if I can find Oktober Studio II, but that is a rant for another blog. I love that these paintings are taller than me.

I am very excited I have been selling mini pumpkins again at CoOp California. They are selling quick. Please pop over to grab a few.

Coming to the end of August my "MidSummer" collection, a small batch of mini pumpkins and a small batch of song lyrics are still available for sale now through August 31, 2022 at        Co Op California, 6674 N Northwest Hwy Chicago Illinois 60631.

On a good note my mini pumpkins at are selling quickly so be sure to grab a bunch before they sell out!

Well I decided against a print project and instead I am working on 50 minis for my birthday project. Stay tuned for this!

My "GoBig" collection is coming along. I have painted three flat unstretched canvases and I am about to start my first stretched 66x66. 

 

This big canvas took a little while to get together.  After cutting the big canvas roll; I ordered my stretcher bars. I took to the frame shop in Michaels and they were the most helpful with my order to stretch the canvas.  Then I had to make a car arrangements to collect the final canvas. That went pretty smoothly, thank goodness. I am very grateful for my good friend, Linda who has a big truck and is available to help.  

 

I am also excited to share that I have expanded my creative business. From my experience with Alice's Table I  have started LichaAtOktoberFlorals and I am teaching my first flower workshop in September. I am very thrilled to go off on my own and I hope you will join me.  Tap-thru to get your ticket.

Go Big

 Hello,

If you know me...you know my biggest goal is to buy a home where I can have a studio too, but you also know that my other goal is to paint mural size paintings. I have taken a step towards that.  I found a roll of canvas on ebay. I watched, I offered and I bought it. It was so big; 72 inches. I could barely lift it into my apartment.  I learned next how to cut canvas, which was pretty easy. You just rip it! However, apparently I am not a master at measuring , because what was supposed to be 72x72, has become 72x71 or 72x67. However that didn't get me down for long. I have a plan. Since the canvas needs a few extra inches for stretching my final pieces will be 68x68 or 66x66, which is good because, I need to be able to get these pieces through the doorway which is only 73. I will get half the canvas stretched and half will be flat paintings and the collector can decide if they want to mount and frame the painting or have the painting stretched. I painted one flat canvas and am working on a second. I am excited also because, I am painting outside in the fresh air and a friend was kind enough to lend me an air brush and compressor which I plan to use for these big paintings.  

I have also been considering to do a one time, limited, elevated fine art print of a painting that has not been exhibited. I was mulling over the idea of doing 50 prints and selling for one day only on my 50th birthday. I still ned to think about it.

These paintings for me are full warm balmy nights belting out songs with your favorite people. The yellows take me to my happy place; the beach, the burning sun, the smell of sun screen and the long lazy days of Summer. I have always felt there is something bewitching in the air on the Solstice and day is whirling love spells and good fortune all around.

I have been busy working on my Summer collection, "MidSummer" coming out on the Solstice, Tuesday June 21, 2022. It's full of light and heat, which leads me to the obsession I have been having with the sky and sun's color story.  Take a peek at some of the side pieces.

Painting people is not my strongest skill, but I have wanted to paint something with figures for a while and I wanted to also paint something floral. These two ideas came together to create this whimsical collection.

My side hustle with Alice's Table threw me into florals and I sponged up all the flower details. I have been with Alice's Table (we teach flower workshops) for a short time now, even though I do not have a lot of workshop experience. The idea of a woman made company spreading joy, confidence and beauty was something I was drawn to. Flowers make you happy and my hope is that these paintings do the same.

Spring

Spring into Spring am I right?!  My 100 Day Project started January 1st and took me all the way to April 10th. I am very excited I sold 27 paintings so far from the project.
