"The Light Half"

 Hello. Happy Summer!

Happy to share my new collection
"The Light Half".

These paintings are glowy, sweet and wrap you up in warmth. Acrylic on canvas, 24x24, a small works collection $100.oo each + Shipping.

"Beltane The Light Half"

I am extremely in love with the time of the year when seasons change and my favorite is the Summer Solstice, but before we feel the MidSummer magic in June there is May Day and the skies open, the flowers bud and the air begins to be lighter. The feeling of awakening and Spring fever sets in and everyone starts to get a little happier over those few days knowing a portal has opened
and soon we will be in warm air.

"How Sweet It Is"

It's as simple as I have been drawn to pink lately. I wanted to use all the pinks I had for a painting. My dad would sometimes say "How sweet it is." When I first started painting 30 years ago I painted suns and skies often and I find myself going back to suns and skies again. It's as simple as a word; sweet, a sweet experience, a sweet moment - what was the sky at that time? What are your memories of sweet moments? I am happy to share this piece sold to a lovely family who wanted it for their daughter's bedroom. Many of my paintings are chosen and I am told for their kid's room. I have become the
kid's artist and isn't that sweet!

"It's The Heat"

This was the first painting I did for this collection. I painted it in late 2025 and that was when pink started to seep into my mind. I painted this loosely, using a lot of water mixed with the acrylic for a flowy look. Everybody blames the heat. Heat is good, it loosens up your muscles, gets your blood pumping: feeling alive. It's what passion feels like. I love it. It's been over a 100° this season and I love the hot breeze coaxing me to stay outside longer soaking up all the rays and balmy air. Who doesn't love a hot night?! All my bikram yoga practicing prepared me for all this wonderful hotness.

"Marigold"

I wanted a painting to be mostly orange, so I used all the oranges I had. When I was a kid my mom always had marigold flowers, still does and the rich orange shades have stayed with me. I noticed brilliant, hot color has been overtaking my mind a lot lately. I notice men sometimes have a pop of hot pink or yellow, green or orange in their outfits; a watch, shoes, a T and I am here for it. I can't remember who said this, I saw it on Instagram " who said chic was beige on beige? there are so many colors!" Well I agree and have been loving color for 30 years. This piece also sold to a young lad. I don't know why I was surprised that the orange called to him.

"Suspension"

At times giving a painting a title is where I get writer's block. I painted this in March and it took until June for the right words to come into my orbit that captured the energy of this piece. I read the poem "Let's Lose Time" by poet Butterflies Rising. Her words captured exactly the feeling I was having for this painting, where are you when good things happen, what was the sky like on the day, who were you sharing time with, those moments when life was light and you're just in it.

"Sweet Nothings"

This painting was layers and layers of white, pink and light, light yellow. It's title is romantic and thinking now as I write this I always think of romance as a Summer fling during the light half.

This is a collection of white. pinks, oranges, gold and yellows. These yellows, so warm; it's like eating honey, pure gold. These pinks capturing sweetness, with streaks of gold and white and a brilliant pop of orange.  All colors that feel to me as "The Light Half". I leave you with one more note; start remembering the sky on good days, how does the
air feel on your skin?

June Update

 Hello Friends.

Thank you very much for all your votes, donations and sharing my vote link for the People's Artist contest. I really appreciate the support. I ended in 6th place in the Top 10.  It was fun, exhausting campaign, but they gave me a fancy badge.

If you are interested in checking this contest out more. Please consider voting for a fellow artist friend of mine.

Next up is my Patina Pop Up Exhibit. Looking forward to seeing you there with all your art collecting friends. :)

My next collection "The Light Half" comes out on June 27, 2026. You can see it at this month's pop up. This collection is all sweet, all warm and the colors scream love. Acrylic on canvas, 6 24x24 lovely paintings expressing how wonderful a season change feels within us.

"It's The Heat"

June is one of my favorite months because I love the Summer Solstice. I love the MidSummer magic that casts a spell over everyone. I am horrible with remembering dates, so I think  I have been doing this for 4 years, but maybe it's 3 years that I have been partnering with businesses who give out my free mini mini sun paintings. This year there are 30 (30 years a painter!) out there in the world. Please tag me if you see one or get one. I would be grateful for the promoting.

I cannot thank you enough for being here with me and continuing to support my painting life. Until next time...

Coming Up...

 Hello,

My next exhibits will be here before you know it. Mark your calendars. Grab your loved ones, stop by and help me sell 30 paintings this year. Buy art that speaks to your soul!

Reflecting a lot lately on 30 years of painting and what work has been done all this time. When I first started painting I had a hard time with the idea of selling my art. I wanted to sell paintings, but I was attached to each piece.  My friend got me my first art exhibit at the Gallery Cabaret in BuckTown. It is a little dive bar with art and open mics and live music and they made me feel good as the exhibit plans were made for a month long residency. It was a success, I sold a painting and never felt afraid to sell art again. As time went on I hooked up with Montana Morrison and Gallery 1633 where I learned about putting an exhibit together and putting collections together. I took those lessons and exhibited on my own; in my home and got my own exhibit spaces. I planned the menu, the guest list, I sent out invites and did all the marketing. The only time I ever sold art online was through Facebook when I posted a painting and someone contacted me and the same on Instagram. I had for a long time a Shopify shop linked to my website and just this year I canceled it. You want to buy a painting? You want to see selections? Email me: oktoberstudio@hotmail.com ... easy peasy.  Thank you so much for following along. I 'm very grateful.  See you at the exhibits!
